The Early Start
My day begins bright and early, picking up the housekeeping staff and heading to the lodge. The drive is always a good time to catch up and plan the day ahead. Once we arrive, the first task is to check the outside area. I start with the garden, ensuring it’s tidy and welcoming. Next, I move to the balcony area, making sure it’s clean and ready for guests to enjoy. Finally, I check the parking area, ensuring it’s free of debris and well-organized.
Morning Routine
With the exterior in order, I turn my attention to the day’s guest check-ins and check-outs. I review the schedule to see who will be arriving and departing, and if any guests require airport pickup or drop-off. If there are guests checking out, I make it a point to check in with them, asking about their stay and gathering feedback to improve our services.
Guest Interactions
Once the check-outs are complete, I inform housekeeping to service the vacated rooms. I then check on the guests currently staying at the lodge. I ask if they need their rooms serviced or if they just want fresh towels and sheets. I also inquire if there are any issues with their rooms that need attention. If there are, I promptly contact the management team to address them.
Midday Duties
After assisting housekeeping with room servicing, I ensure all amenities are in order for the next guests. If I spot any issues, I notify the management team immediately. Throughout the day, I often receive walk-ins inquiring about room rates and availability. I direct them to the appropriate contact person and inform the reservations team of these requests.
Afternoon Tasks
Once the rooms are serviced, I double-check the guest information and prepare for their arrival. When guests check in, I provide a brief introduction to their room and the available amenities, ensuring they have everything they need for a comfortable stay. By the afternoon, it’s time for a quick meal with the housekeeping team.
Inventory and Maintenance
After lunch, I check the accommodation inventories to ensure we have enough stock of essentials like water, soap, and laundry powder. I then advise housekeeping to start a load of washing for the linens, sheets, and towels.
Wrapping Up
As the day winds down, I reflect on the day’s activities and prepare for any evening arrivals. Being a lodge accommodation host is a dynamic and rewarding role, filled with opportunities to enhance guest experiences and ensure everything runs smoothly. Each day brings new challenges and interactions, making it a fulfilling and engaging job.
